A classic dessert, this Sugar-Free Old-Fashioned Amish Baked Custard is both delicious and healthy, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups unsweetened almond milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar-free sweetener
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the almond milk, eggs, sweetener, vanilla extract, salt, and nutmeg until well combined.
  3. Pour the mixture into a greased custard dish.
  4. Place the custard dish in a larger baking pan. Fill the larger pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the custard dish.
  5. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the custard is set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool before serving.

Notes

  • For a creamier custard, use half-and-half instead of almond milk.
  • Serve warm or chilled, topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired.
