Learn how to make the perfect pan seared steaks that are juicy and flavorful, right in your home kitchen!

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 ribeye steaks fresh and well-marbled
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Remove the steaks from the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. Season both sides of the steaks generously with salt and pepper.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  4. Add the steaks to the skillet, cooking for 4-5 minutes without moving them.
  5. Flip the steaks and add the garlic, thyme, and butter to the pan.
  6. Baste the steaks with the melted butter for about 3-4 more minutes for medium-rare.
  7. Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • For an extra flavor boost, try marinating the steaks for a few hours before cooking.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness: 130°F for medium-rare.
