- 2 ribeye steaks fresh and well-marbled
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, smashed
- 2 sprigs fresh thyme
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Remove the steaks from the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Season both sides of the steaks generously with salt and pepper.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Add the steaks to the skillet, cooking for 4-5 minutes without moving them.
- Flip the steaks and add the garlic, thyme, and butter to the pan.
- Baste the steaks with the melted butter for about 3-4 more minutes for medium-rare.
- Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- For an extra flavor boost, try marinating the steaks for a few hours before cooking.
- Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness: 130°F for medium-rare.
