Description

Potatoes Romanoff is a comforting, creamy dish that features grated russet potatoes combined with sour cream, sharp cheddar cheese, and a blend of seasonings. This savory side dish is perfect for family dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large russet potatoes
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • Fresh chives for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake the potatoes until tender, about 1 hour. Allow them to cool completely, then grate them with a large-holed grater.
  • In a large bowl, combine grated potatoes, chopped onion, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and drizzle melted butter on top.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  • Garnish with fresh chives before serving.

Notes

  • Make sure the potatoes are completely cooled before grating to avoid a mushy texture.
  • You can prepare the dish a day in advance and bake it just before serving.
