- 1 large egg
- ½ cup milk
- 1 ½ lbs ground beef (80/20)
- 1 packet French onion soup mix (1 oz)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp beef broth or water
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, French onion soup mix, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Form into a loaf shape and place in the slow cooker.
- Caramelize onions in a skillet with olive oil, cook until golden brown, then set aside.
- Place caramelized onions over the meatloaf in the slow cooker.
- Cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours (until internal temp reaches 160°F/71°C).
- Add Swiss cheese on top and allow to melt in the final 10-15 minutes of cooking.
- Slice and serve with your favorite sides.
